“Research process storage of Stevia rebaudiana in vitro by artificial seed method” was carried out to conserve rare medicinal plants by artificial seed method, contributing to the preservation of medical potential. In this study, fullstrenght MS medium supplied 3% Sodium Alginate, was indicated that the highest percentage of germination (100%), and the highest shoot formation rate (8,33 shoots). This condition is also showed the highest germination rate and number
of shoots (66,67% and 5,00 shoots, respectively) when samples were stored at 4oC for 4 weeks. However, the longer storage, the lower germination rate and the number shoots formation, especially 86,67% and 16,33 shoots for 2 months, 66,67% and 13 shoots for 3 months and 50% and 10 shoots for 4 months, respectively. The research results showed that artificial seed is also a suitable tool for expanding large-scale production for commercial use, due to cost, space, environment and time savings, easy handling, planting and transportation compared to traditional methods.
